There’s quite a few steps involved in this text effect, and we’ll be using a couple of filters and layer styles . We know photoshop is a 2 dimensional program but using various tricks and techniques its possible to achieve something cool

Here’s the text effect we’re going for:

Let’s get started.

Step 1: Open A New Photoshop Document

Open a new document in Photoshop by going up to the File menu and choosing New. You can choose your own width and height for your document, but if you want to follow along, I chose the 800×600 size from the list of available presets . I’ve also left my Resolution value set to its default of 72 pixels/inch. fill the background layer with solid black color as shown below.

Step 2: Add Filter

Go to filter> Render> Fibers. Be sure to set the colors to default (black and white) you can simply press ‘D’ before applying the fiber filter this will automatically set the default colors.

And we will have something like this

Step 3: Add Layer styles

Add color overlay to the background layer and reduce its opacity to 90% as shown in the figure.

Now our Background is Ready

Step 4: Add Text

Now its time to place some text to our background, I am writing ‘chrome’ , i have taken ‘Arial Black’ as my font .

Step 5: Duplicate the layer

Duplicate the text layer 4 times by holding ‘alt’ button, be sure you have selected the move tool, you can also use your arrow keys for moving the text layer as shown in the figure.

Step 6: Merge  the layers

Now select the 4 layers as shown in figure and merge them. Don’t merge the top layer , in this way we have one layer and one merged layer of 4 text layers.

Step 7: Apply some layer styles

Now apply these layer styles to the top most individual text layer.

Step 8: Add layer styles for merged layers

Also add gradient overlay to the merged layer, so that we get some kind of 3d text effect.

Now we are getting closer to our end result

Step 9: Add a hue/Saturation Adjustment layer

Now add a hue saturation adjustment layer as shown in the figure, i am giving a blue tint as i like it, you can give your own tint by changing the hue value.

Step 10 (last): Add some shadows below text

In a new layer below text use elipse tool with 8 px feather fill the selection with black color  to make some soft shadows. Enjoy

1. RGB Mode

Photoshop’s RGB color mode uses the RGB model assigning an intensity value to each ranging from 0 (black) to 255 (white) for each of the RGB color image.
RGB is colored light.
RGB is a standard color mode.
RGB is used in television, on-screen etc.
RGB has a much wider color gamut than CMYK.

2. CMYK Mode

In CMYK each pixel is assigned a percentage value for each of the process links.
CMYK is colored ink.
It is used in Printing.
Process printing uses cyan, magenta, yellow and black, or CMYK. It is an offset press that will print spot colors or varnish. Offset presses are for large print runs of single sheet printing like letterhead, cards or fliers.
The only drawback I can think of to designing in CMYK is the limited filters in Photoshop.

3. Lab Color Mode

Lab Color Mode has a lightness component (L) that can range from 0 to 100.
It is used to work with Cd images.
It can be saved in TIFF format.

4. Bitmap Mode

This mode uses one of the two color values (Black and White) to represent pixels in an image.

5. Indexed Color Modes

Indexed Color Mode produces 8 bit image files with almost 256 colors.
By limiting the palatte of colors, indexed color can reduce file size while maintaining enough visual quality for applications like multimedia
presentation or a web page.

6. Duotone Mode

It creates Monotone , Duotone ( Two Colors ) , Tritone ( three colors )
grayscale images using two to four custom links.

7. Multi channel Mode

Multi channel Mode uses 256 levels of gray in each channel .
It is useful for specialized printing.
